Activities We Sponsor | The Congressional Award

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress' award for young Americans. The program is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The Trustees of the Waypoint Foundation are excited to offer their time as Advisors to local youth (ages 13.5 to 24) who would like to take on the challenge of The Congressional Award.

Participants make personal goals in four areas:

  • Voluntary Public Service
  • Personal Development
  • Physical Fitness
  • Expedition/Exploration

Their achievement in the program is based on the months of participation and hours of effort in reaching their personal goals. Of the six levels of achievement, the highest achievement level is the Gold Medal which includes an invitation to participate in the Gold Medal Ceremony held in Washington, DC each June.

We have had one youth in our community earn the Congressional Award Gold Medal in 2016, and we are hoping to encourage more youth to accept and follow through on this challenge.

Additional information on The Congressional Award can be found at www.congressionalaward.org.

Anyone interested in learning more about this program or pursuing this award are encouraged to call us to learn more about and how to register for this award.
